Welcome. I’m Stephanie Grinnell, a journalist who noticed there’s an area of major interest in the state that receives little news coverage: agriculture and homesteading.

The purpose of Maine Agriculture Journal is to provide up-to-date, professionally written stories about the many farmers and homesteaders in the state as well as how-to information and updates to local ordinances and state legislation that impacts agricultural and homesteading efforts.

At the same time, my family and I are homesteading — which gives me even greater insight into many aspects of what it takes. So, it’s also possible I might sneak in a recipe or two, especially once my wood cookstove is up and running.
